Peter Wipf, PhD

Senior Advisor

Peter Wipf received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Zürich. He joined the laboratory of Prof. Robert E. Ireland at the University of Virginia as a Swiss NSF postdoctoral fellow, and in 1990, he moved to the University of Pittsburgh, where since 2004 he holds the rank of Distinguished University Professor. His group works on natural products total synthesis and also pursues a diverse range of projects in heterocyclic and medicinal chemistry.

Dr. Wipf directs the Center for Chemical Methodologies and Library Development at Pittsburgh, and he is a co-leader of the Cancer Therapeutics Program at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. He is a member of the board of several companies, journals and societies, and an elected Fellow of the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Royal Society of Chemistry. He has coauthored over 600 journal articles, books and patents.
