Xealth Helps UPMC Make Digital Solutions a Reality

Providing patients with a meaningful experience has always been a primary goal for UPMC. So, when the company began exploring ways to improve the digital experience for both patients and clinicians by digitizing the collection of pre-procedural materials for Orthopedics, it surprised no one when they made it a top priority to find a partner who shared similar thinking.

Using RxAnte Helps UPMC Health Plan Improve Medical Adherence, Star Ratings

As part of the top-ranked UPMC health system, UPMC Health Plan takes a comprehensive approach to Star Ratings. That approach includes integrating clinical data from the health system with claims data from the insurance side of the business. By doing this, the organization takes a broad-based approach to improve patient care and health outcomes. For example, UPMC uses its clinical pharmacy initiatives to steer members to participate in care and/or disease management programs.

Prodigo Solutions Improves UPMC Procurement Efficiencies and On-Contract Purchases.

As an integrated delivery and finance system, UPMC’s supply chain must serve more than 30 hospitals, hundreds of physician practices and outpatient clinics, and the largest health insurer in Western Pennsylvania. Altogether, the system has more than 80,000 employees.

Health Catalyst CORUS Suite Helps UPMC Improve Clinical and Financial Outcomes

Health care costs are continuing to climb and many Americans are beginning to think that they aren’t getting their money’s worth. However, much of these cost increases come directly from a lack of understanding about how much it costs to provide patient care and a lack of knowledge about how those costs compare to the outcomes achieved. If health care organizations want to build sustainability, they must first identify and address waste, and reduce the total cost of care by creating efficiencies.

Evolent and UPMC Collaborate to Expand Value-Based Care

In the early stages of development, Evolent Health understood that the transition to value-based care created a great opportunity for organizations, including health systems, independent practice associations, accountable care organizations, and health plans.

UPMC and Cavulus: Defining the Next Generation of Medicare Advantage Technology

Some Medicare Advantage (MA) plans reduce cost by retrofitting commercial insurance software or agnostic technologies to support their Medicare line of business. Unfortunately, this often results in extensive implementations that exceed budgets, resources, and reduce their competitive advantage.

UPMC and Health Fidelity Partnership a Win-Win for Risk Adjustment

When Health Fidelity was founded, the tech startup’s goal was to provide organizations with a best-in-class clinical natural language processing (NLP) and inference platform. The company’s tech could be used to analyze vast amounts of unstructured data and then provide customers with clinical and financial insights. It was a solid solution built on impressive technology but required a partner to validate and operationalize many of the company’s early claims.

Around that same time, the integrated health system, UPMC, and its payer division, the UPMC Health Plan, were experiencing an influx of new Medicare Advantage enrollments. When coupled with the rollout of additional Affordable Care Act (ACA) product lines, UPMC’s risk adjustment coders simply couldn’t keep up with the overwhelming workload. The health system knew that its current process of manually reviewing charts and identifying risk conditions meant a fragmented workflow and poor productivity. It needed a better way to manage risk.
