UPMC Enterprises Gives Back

Culture UPMC Enterprises

On this Giving Tuesday, the international day for giving back, we want to recognize some of those at UPMC Enterprises who volunteer their time throughout the year to participate in community organizations and other causes that are near and dear to their hearts. Whether it is coaching youth sports or participating in a bike-a-thon, we appreciate the generosity of all those who are devoted to giving back.

Finance

The finance team is very active in the community with Jordan Frasier sitting on the Board of Trustees at the Western PA School for Blind Children Foundation and Craig Ball sitting on the Board of Trustees at both the Blessing Board and the Vincentian Collaborative System. Pictured below is a group photo of the team volunteering together.

Gary Boyko and his wife, Karen, are in their 14th year of service with the Washington City Mission, which is a faith-based rehabilitative homeless shelter providing meals, rehab support and counseling to the Washington, PA, area and beyond. Gary and Karen are monthly volunteers in the kitchen, serving hot meals to the residents and community and have participated in support of the annual Sweet Sunday fundraising event along with resident facility maintenance.

The finance team also literally stays active in the community with Zach Davis and Dave Gibson both coaching youth sports for their respective hometowns!

Translational Sciences

This past spring, the Translational Sciences team participated in the first annual “Rush to Crush Cancer” bike race, a charity bike ride that supports cancer research at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.

The team also participated in the Annual VisionWalk that supports the Foundation for Fighting Blindness

Team member Joe Pohl is a Board Member of the Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation. His sister passed away from CJD in 2018. Since that time, Joe’s family and team have participated in the Foundation’s signature fundraiser, Strides for CJD.

Digital Solutions

UPMC Enterprises was recently represented by two teams at United Way’s inaugural Giveback Games. Held at Acrisure stadium, the fundraising event was sponsored by UPMC and the UPMC Health Plan and was geared towards young professionals.

Operations

The Operations team recently joined East End Ministries where they worked in their kitchen. East End Ministries serves hot meals Monday through Friday. The team helped prepare lunch for the day and then completed additional food prep for the following days.

While this is only a sampling of the ways our team gives back to our communities, we are immensely proud of everyone at Enterprises who volunteers their time to help others. Be sure to follow us on LinkedIn and X to stay up to date on all of the good works happening across UPMC Enterprises!
