UPMC’s session at HIMSS22 ‘‘Light’ Tech with Big Pharmacy Ecosystem Impact’ (session ID 208) will explore opportunities for pharmacy innovation, exemplified through a healthcare technology case study that is having a strong impact at UPMC.
The session will examine how UPMC married technology and a consumer focus to positively impact patient outcomes and improve pharmacy performance.
Speakers Chronis Manolis, RPh, Senior Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at UPMC Health Plan and Rebecca Taylor, PharmD, MBA, Senior Director of Pharmacy at UPMC will share insights into the challenges and opportunities of today’s pharmacy environment from the payer and provider-run pharmacy perspectives.
Kathryn Heffernan, MBA, Director of Product Management at UPMC Enterprises, will take the audience deep into a pharmacy innovation case study. Ms. Heffernan will share how UPMC addressed a number of these challenges and opportunities by building a digital solution called UPMC Rx Express.
The solution is a ‘lightweight’ AI-driven technology that utilizes an SMS chatbot, an integrated CRM, and a dedicated service center to decrease hospital readmissions, increase medication adherence, and grow hospital-run pharmacy capture rates.
The case study, and the session itself, are examples of UPMC’s integrated finance and delivery system model at work: by melding expertise and insights from the payer, provider, and innovation arms of our health system, our teams are delivering value and driving to improve health care.
