Peter Nelson, Senior Business Analyst — ITTC

How did you get into the industry? After getting my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, I moved to New York City and spent a few years working for different pharmaceutical and biotech consulting firms. I was drawn to figuring out how to get patients around the world access to the newest, cutting-edge technologies and therapies.

Are you a Pittsburgh local or did you grow up elsewhere? I was born in New Jersey, but grew up in Georgia, then attended university in Baltimore. I’ve now arrived in Pittsburgh, so my wife can attend graduate school.

Do you have an unusual talent or hobby? Theatre and theatre history are my go-to hobbies that help get my mind off work. I’ve seen over 100 shows on Broadway and off-Broadway throughout my childhood and time living in New York City. Some of my favorites include “Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812,” “Hamilton,” and “Sunday in the Park with George.” I’m always happy to discuss new shows or provide suggestions if anyone is visiting New York or wanting to see a touring show here in Pittsburgh!

What’s in your perfect meal? Thanksgiving dinner is always my favorite — so many choices for delicious food and drink, surrounded by friends and family, followed by the incredible post-Thanksgiving food coma.

Are you a Pittsburgh local or did you grow up elsewhere? I have lived my whole life in Pittsburgh so far and am currently attending the University of Pittsburgh.

Do you have an unusual talent or hobby? I like to fly airplanes. I just recently received my private pilot’s license and am always looking forward to the next time I can get up and fly.

What’s in your perfect meal? A lot of pizza.

Which is better: board games or video games? Video games, not a board game fan at all.

Tom Persson, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, Associate — DSO

Do you have any kids? Any pets? No kids, but do I have two pit bull mixes named Olive and Remy. They’re the best.

Do you have an unusual talent or hobby? Not unusual, but I’ve been a drummer for about 20 years now. I’ve played in a bunch of bands over the years, and my current band is getting ready to go into the studio to record our first professional EP.

Where in the universe would you like to visit someday? Probably whatever universe allows me to hang out in the Shire from The Hobbit.

If any musician or band could give you a personal concert, who would it be? Either Benny Greb (amazing drummer), the original lineup of the Smashing Pumpkins, or the Beastie Boys.
