Lindsay Crawford, Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications

How did you get into the industry? I am fascinated by what drives people to make certain choices, as well as the relationships people have with brands. The idea that I could help shape a person’s feeling towards a brand or affect a decision to purchase through writing, design, and targeting was enough to sell me on a marketing and communications career path.

How long have you been working at UPMCE? UPMCE since May 2015, but I’ve been a UPMC employee for 12 years. Before Enterprises, I held various positions in clinical and digital marketing for UPMC corporate.

What’s changed the most since you started here? The floor plan. When I finally learn the seating arrangement, everyone moves again!

As technology has evolved throughout the years, what stands out to you the most? How marketing has become so targeted. With the right tools and information, you can reach a very specific audience at the exact time you want to share your brand message. On top of that, a message can be personalized based on a person’s behavior and preferences. It really has revolutionized marketing!

What’s your favorite part about working here? The people are great – I love the genuine curiosity and interest in learning. I also love our ability to touch so many different brands and messages through our marketing work with the UPMCE portfolio companies.

Do you have an unusual talent or hobby? I was a gymnast in my younger days. It was fun, but I wish I would’ve spent more time learning a skill that is transferable to adulthood. When was the last time a colleague or client asked you to spend a few hours tumbling instead of golfing? Exactly.
