Throughout the Summer, eleven students from across the country and the world have been contributing to our mission of developing solutions to health care’s biggest challenges.
Our Summer Associates are spread across five different departments where they are inspiring change and driving innovation. They are tasked with real world problems to encourage real world differences within the health care industry.

Technology Services
Christopher Chi

School & Area of Study: Carnegie Mellon University, Mathematics
What are you looking forward to learning at UPMC Enterprises?
I am looking forward to learning more about software engineering and the tech stack that UPMC Enterprises uses.
What is an interesting fact about you?
I am a competitive Rubik’s Cube solver; my best time on the standard 3×3 cube in competition is 4.96 seconds.
If you could have a meal with anyone who would it be?
I would choose some old mathematician, such as Archimedes or Euclid, just so I could poke their brain a bit and see what being a mathematician was like thousands of years ago before all the discoveries that they made, and math became what it is today.

I am looking forward to learning more about AWS and gaining hands-on experience!

Keanu Reeves because he seems genuine and kind based on the lifestyle he lives, how he treats others, and not letting fame or money change him.

What are you looking forward to learning at UPMC Enterprises?
I am looking forward to gaining valuable insights into health care technology and I am excited to contribute to meaningful projects and expand my knowledge in the intersection of technology and health care.
What is an interesting fact about you?
I have been told I am good at teaching.
If you could have a meal with anyone who would it be?
I would choose to have a meal with Elon Musk. I would love to gain insights into his visionary approach to technology, entrepreneurship, and his innovative mindset.

What are you looking forward to learning at UPMC Enterprises?
I am looking forward to learning advanced techniques in technology, as well as learn to better collaborate with team members to potentially receive a full time offer.
What is an interesting fact about you?
In my spare time, I love to play bored games, listen to music, and hang out with my lovely cat!
If you could have a meal with anyone who would it be?
I would want to have dinner with my colleague Mathew, I was deeply impressed by his passion of UPMC Enterprises and technology throughout my interview.

What are you looking forward to learning at UPMC Enterprises?
This internship is my first experience as a software engineer in the industry. So far, I have learned so many things that I did not learn in the university (e.g., the project management system that the engineers in the industry deploy — Scrum, Kanban, etc.). And I am excited that there are even more things to learn!
What is an interesting fact about you?
I was on a varsity soccer team during high school, and I am a fan of Tottenham. I also play a few online games, and one of my favorites is League of Legends.
If you could have a meal with anyone who would it be?
My grandfather. He passed away when I was seven, and I just want to show him that his grandchild has grown from a little girl that loves ice cream, to a woman who is about to go into society.

I look forward to expanding my knowledge within the health care tech industry while driving my passion for marketing to inspire innovative change.
What is an interesting fact about you?
I am fluent in Spanish!
If you could have a meal with anyone who would it be?
I would have a meal with Phillip Kotler due to his profound success with marketing, I would love to learn more about how he became the “Father of Modern Marketing”.

What are you looking forward to learning at UPMC Enterprises?
I am looking forward to learning more about UI/UX from Nathan Grealish while becoming more experienced with the design tool Figma.
What is an interesting fact about you?
My brother is a familiar face around UPMC Enterprises, Justin Gorny.
If you could have a meal with anyone who would it be?
My grandma because I miss her more than anything and I would love the chance to fill her in on everything that has transpired in my life.

What are you looking forward to learning at UPMC Enterprises?
Supporting the Translational Sciences team in bringing life-saving therapies to UPMC patients.
What is an interesting fact about you?
I have never left the North American continent.
If you could have a meal with anyone who would it be?
Mark Cuban, I love shark tank and he is from Pittsburgh. I would like to seek his help in bringing a NBA franchise to Pittsburgh.

Alice Levy

I am really looking forward to learning more about the overall process and nuances associated with investing in women’s health.

I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.

I would be quite interested in sitting down with David Sinclair to pick his brain about longevity.
Fernanda Mazon Bissaco

I am eager to gain a deep understanding of the U.S. health care market and explore innovative solutions that address complex challenges in our industry.

I am a health care professional! I studied Pharmacy during my undergraduate studies, and then I transitioned to business.

I would choose Taylor Swift, I would love to discuss her creative process, inspirations, and the stories behind her songs. I am also interested in learning about the valuable lessons she has learned while using her voice to make a positive impact.
