Vara Anantharaman

Vara Anantharaman is an Engineering Manager in the MyUPMC division. She and her team of engineers are responsible for the development of the patient portal and patient outreach applications, throughout the full stack of the architecture. She has seen multiple projects from start to fully functioning successful long running implementations within UPMC, in radiology, and in the consumer domain.

Drawing from her 25+ years of experience as a software engineer/lead of multiple projects, she guides and motivates her teams to employ best practices in software development. The last 12 years have been with UPMC and it has provided her with a strong passion for patient-centric application development. She is heavily invested in nurturing a healthy work culture for her team of engineers and thrives on seeing their success and career growth.

Vara has a master’s in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida, and a career spanning from Orlando, FL, to Huntsville, AL, and now, to Pittsburgh.
