John Lowman

John has served in diverse commercial and operational roles at early-stage life science companies, contributing to research and product strategy, partnership development, and start-up operations. While serving as the Business Development Manager for Mimetas BV, a Holland-based biotechnology firm commercializing organ-on-a-chip research platforms, John established and managed therapeutic research partnerships with US-based pharmaceutical companies, and helped to drive domestic and international adoption of phenotypic tissue models in the early drug discovery process. Prior to his tenure at Mimetas, John helped to found a university-hospital spinout company JADE Biotech, seeking to enhance safety and security within hospital operating suites.

John’s role as Portfolio Development Manager on the Translational Sciences team at UPMC Enterprises is focused on the translational advancement of novel, university-developed inventions into clinically and commercially ready technologies. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Delaware.
