Dhanesh Shah

Dhanesh Shah joined UPMC Enterprises in July 2023 as a director on the Translational Sciences team. His focus is sourcing, evaluating, conducting due diligence, and executing venture investment opportunities within life sciences and health care. In addition, Dhanesh dedicates his time supporting portfolio companies, evaluate market trends to formulate investment thesis, and execute the vision laid out by leadership at UPMC Enterprises.

Prior to joining UPMC Enterprises, Dhanesh was director of technology innovation and commercialization at University Hospitals in Cleveland, where he oversaw all aspects of sourcing, triaging, and commercialization of intellectual property.

Dhanesh brings more than a decade of experience in innovation acceleration, business development, and venture investments across various domains in health care. With keen interest in life science technologies, and health care economics, Dhanesh applies his problem-solving and analytical rigor in developing investment thesis or translating innovation into thriving business operations. His experience spans across corporate finance, strategy, business development, technology commercialization and new venture creation.

Dhanesh received his MBA from Case Western Reserve University, and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in commerce from the University of Mumbai. He enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, cycling, and running.
