UPMC Enterprises portfolio companies made news last month, including ALung’s latest clinical trial starting for the Hemolung RAS, Health Fidelity landing a new client, and Lantern receiving a mention in a story on telehealth services.


ALung Technologies recently announced the initiation of patient enrollment in its VENT-AVOID trails with the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. The trial is pivotal in validating the safety and efficacy of the Hemolung Respiratory Assist System for COPD patients who require ventilatory support.


Lantern’s cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness app was mentioned in a recent Healthcare Dive article on telehealth services. The piece notes that Lantern’s app was piloted at UPMC facilities.

Florida-based AvMed has selected Health Fidelity’s NLP-powered risk adjustment solutions to help optimize operations for its Medicare Advantage and Affordable Care Act Individual and Small Group plan offerings. Through Health Fidelity, AvMed’s team aims to identify member risks and compliance issues to keep pace with its rapid membership growth.
