One of the guiding principles of UPMC Enterprises is “Collaborative,” which is defined as share, build, and achieve together. Collaboration happens across the organization daily to fulfill our mission of transforming ideas into thriving businesses and life-changing medicine. The Technology Services catalog is one of many examples showing how multiple Enterprises’ teams work together.
Upon rejoining Enterprises in 2020, Jeff Jones, Senior Vice President of Product Development, recognized that the unique talents and experience within what is now the Technology Services team had the potential to be a game-changer for the organization. He articulated a vision to position Technology Services as a key resource for internal investment decision-making and an accelerator to startups, investors, and innovators in the digital health care space. He challenged the Technology Services leadership team to structure and organize its suite of services as marketable and repeatable offerings. Hence, the Technology Services catalog was born. The first edition was launched and piloted throughout 2022.
The pilot was a success, proving that the new Technology Services team and service offerings add value beyond what was imagined. The next challenge was to enhance the catalog by incorporating lessons learned, customer and market feedback, and new best practices and processes established within Enterprises. This effort was larger and included members of many teams across and outside of UPMC Enterprises, including Tech Services, Legal, Marketing, Operations, and UPMC’s Information Services Division.
These teams updated and reorganized the Tech Services catalog into five categories of services:

Through their Strategic Services offerings, Tech Services leverages the team’s combined decades of health care expertise to thoroughly evaluate a company’s technology, product position, and strategic vision.

Success in the health care industry requires a strategic approach that involves targeting the right market, addressing a significant problem, and delivering a high-quality product. Tech Services understands the complexities and regulations of the health care sector and offers a range of services to accelerate and ensure the success of UPMC Enterprises’ partners and customers.
Data and Analytics Services
In the ever-expanding world of health care data, Tech Services provides the expertise startups need to aggregate, integrate, validate, manage, and analyze data in a way that is accessible, high performing, and cost-effective.
