UPMC Enterprises has joined First Trust Capital Partners, Martin Ventures, CMT Digital and Whistler Capital Partners to accelerate innovation efforts at Hashed Health, a health care venture studio that launches new business models enabled by blockchain and distributed ledger technology.
The investment will enable a collaborative partnership between UPMC Enterprises and Hashed Health through which the two organizations will identify problems in health care and create solutions that address issues of trust, transparency, and alignment.
Based in Nashville, Hashed Health is known for successfully launching ProCredEx, a digital exchange for professional credentials data, and plans to launch another five startups over the next two years. Each of these health care companies will be true to a shared vision of empowering the health of individuals and communities through innovation.
“This is an important moment for applying distributed ledger technology to many of the fundamental challenges facing healthcare,” Brent Burns, executive vice president of UPMC Enterprises, said. “As part of an integrated provider and insurer, we’re excited to work with Hashed Health to nurture startups that create the innovative solutions needed in our interconnected health care landscape.”
UPMC Enterprises is thrilled to expand our portfolio with a partner who has demonstrated success in applying unique technology to solve issues in high-impact areas of health care.
