A report on how health systems are approaching telehealth technology.
A virtual panel discussion on interoperability featuring health care technology experts.
An exclusive in-person summit focused on the top technology and innovation priorities attended by C-suite executives from leading health systems.
These are just a handful of examples of the resources and events produced by the Center for Connected Medicine (CCM). The CCM is a partner-operated organization within UPMC Enterprises that collaborates with a network of leaders and innovators to advance health care.
In this post we will introduce you to the CCM and its programming that is focused on the future of health care innovation.
What is the CCM?
The CCM is both a place and a platform for information about where health care is headed. Established in 2009 as an executive briefing center in UPMC’s headquarters in the U.S. Steel Tower in downtown Pittsburgh, the CCM continues to maintain an event space for large and small meetings.
Originally the CCM was a demonstration space where health systems, technology companies, and others in health care could learn about the cutting-edge technology deployed throughout the UPMC health system.
But the CCM’s programming and mission has evolved and expanded over the years to focus on building a community of leaders and innovators who are working to define the future of health care innovation and the modern health system.
As a part of UPMC, one of the nation’s largest and most innovative integrated health systems, the CCM’s programming draws inspiration from the strategic priorities of UPMC Enterprises and its portfolio companies and has access to experts from across UPMC’s provider and payer divisions.
Additionally, the CCM collaborates with its growing community of leaders and innovators from across the health care ecosystem to produce research and events in three areas: Consumer-centered solutions, digital transformation, and scientific and medical innovation.
CCM resources and events
Over the past five years, the CCM has produced research reports, virtual and in-person events, and supporting materials on a wide range of topics important to innovation-minded health care leaders.
These topics include artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, digital health tools, genomics and genomic data strategy, interoperability, patient access, precision medicine, telehealth, and many more.
In a typical year, the CCM publishes three research reports based on surveys of health system leaders from around the United States. CCM research then serves as a basis for a variety of supporting activities such as expert interviews, virtual panel discussions, private roundtable discussions, and in-person events at the CCM.
The largest event hosted by the CCM each year is the Top of Mind Summit, an invite-only, three-day gathering for health system executives and others to network with and learn from their peers.
