Astrata’s Chart Review is a Year-Round Review (YRR) product to find and close quality care gaps across its entire membership in compliance with the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) quality measurement guidelines. The Chart Review YRR application leverages purpose-built AI and NLP technology to scan the population of health plan members, which analyzes the unstructured clinical data for evidence of applicable measure compliance.
UPMC Health Plan and UPMC Enterprises studied the value of Astrata’s HEDIS®-focused NLP products in use during the 2021 Measurement Year. Some key findings include:
- Individual abstractors closed an average of 30.3 gaps per hour using Chart Review, which is roughly 7.6x faster than standard practice.
- Over a six-month prospective season, a 10-person abstraction team could save $2.5 million in abstraction costs using Chart Review.
