‘Throwback’ fun facts: A longtime colleague who’s fluent in Italian

In addition to our fun facts about new staff story each month, we also feature our long-time co-workers. This month we’re featuring:

Rosa Pulice (AKA Data Police) — Systems Analyst Lead, DSO Team

How did you get into the industry?  I’ve held many different jobs in my 20 years with UPMC. I started out as a medical assistant working in a doctor’s office taking vitals and drawing blood, worked at Montefiore Hospital in registration/same day surgery, and was an insurance verifier for medical procedures. I also worked at UPMC South Side Hospital as a supervisor for 30 employees in registration and spent several years at UPMC Corporate Services as an admission system coordinator. Before coming to Enterprises, I was a system analyst and provided troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of production application, including 24/7 on call coverage.

How long have you been working at UPMCE?  2014-2018.

What’s changed the most since you started here?  The vision of UPMCE.

As technology has evolved throughout the years, what stands out to you the most?  Paper charts vs everything electronic.

What’s your favorite part about working here?  Interacting with different people with different backgrounds.

Share any fun fact! I have dual citizenship in Italy and the United States. I speak Italian fluently even though I was born in the States. My parents couldn’t speak very good English and my grandparents lived with us, so we were taught to speak Italian and learned English in school. I go to Italy often and have lots of cousins and relatives from both sides of my parents.
