Navigating perimenopause and menopause can be a daunting experience for many women, but Elektra Health and UPMC are teaming up to change that. Through a strategic partnership established with the UPMC Magee-Womens Midlife Health Center (MLHC), support and resources will be made more readily available to women during this critical phase of life and beyond.
A New Era of Menopause Care
The collaboration, which was launched this past July, provides UPMC patients virtual access to Elektra’s evidence-based resources through the MyUPMC patient portal. This initiative is designed to complement the care provided by MLHC, expand the clinic’s capacity, and align with UPMC’s mission to innovate health care by improving quality, reducing costs, and enhancing patient experiences for its thousands of female patients.
The Elektra Model
Elektra is unique in that it focuses on whole-person care by prioritizing education, community, and longitudinal individualized support. The platform is tailored to meet each woman’s unique needs, providing them with the tools and information necessary to navigate menopause confidently.
Jannine Versi, co-founder and CEO of Elektra Health, explains, “Providers dedicated to midlife women’s health often find themselves overwhelmed with the task of researching, interpreting complex findings, and updating resources. With UPMC, Elektra is bringing the latest science-based resources directly to patients, making it easy and convenient for them to access the support they need through their existing portal.”
Carla Picardo, MD, MPH, a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner at the Magee-Womens Midlife Health Center, adds, “This partnership allows us to deliver scientifically sound educational materials to our patients and ensure they have access to information in between visits to the MLHC. More readily accessible information allows us to make the most of each appointment and provide customized materials tailored to their health needs. The Elektra platform is a valuable addition for our patients.”
A Deepening Partnership
Earlier this year, UPMC Enterprises, the innovation, commercialization, and venture capital division of UPMC, built upon the partnership with Elektra and the MLHC by leading a funding round on behalf of Elektra. Bridging the funding gap in women’s health is critical to driving expanded research, enhanced care delivery, and improved outcomes in the health of women.
The deepened partnership between UPMC and Elektra is a significant step toward fulfilling the mission to support the comprehensive midlife needs of more than 50 million U.S. women. By collaborating with world-renowned physicians, payers, and health care systems, Elektra is bringing midlife women’s health into the 21st century.
Stay tuned for more updates on how this partnership will continue to evolve and support women through every stage of menopause and beyond.
