UPMC Enterprises celebrates World Retrospective Day

The general purpose of a retrospective is to allow teams to pause and evaluate the recent working cycle and identify areas for improvement going forward.  This year, the Scrum Master team at UPMC Enterprises used the occasion to examine our Guiding Principles.

UPMC Enterprises celebrated World Retrospective Day, a volunteer-based, globally coordinated effort to share in the power of retrospectives as a tool for continuous improvement. While hundreds of independent retrospective events took place across the globe, our very own Scrum Master team gathered in Kaufmann’s Clock to apply the practice to our company’s Guiding Principles.

“What we decided to do was put an Enterprises spin on it,” explained Hayley Hinkle, Engineering Operations Manager. “Each of the Scrum Masters used a different technique for a retrospective on the Guiding Principles.”

The team gathered feedback, discussed how they were living out company values day to day, and offered ideas and solutions for improvement.
