Reader Poll: What should be on health care’s holiday wish list?

Hopefully, we’ve all recovered from the Thanksgiving hangover of too much tryptophan and too many carbs (hello, stuffing, I’m looking at you!), and are thinking about the holiday gift-giving season.

With that in mind, we thought we’d poll our readers on what the health care industry should have on its holiday wish list. We pulled some ideas for the responses from Gartner’s Hype Cycle on “Real-Time Health System” technologies, published earlier this year.

Enjoy the poll and keep reading below to see results from last month’s poll.

Results from last month’s poll:

Last month’s poll question was inspired by the Top of Mind for Top Health Systems 2019 report, which was published Nov. 19 by the Center for Connected Medicine.

Below are the results from the reply-all reader poll:

“Where do you think the majority of the health care industry’s data will be stored by 2022?”

  • Hybrid-private cloud – 66.7%
  • Public cloud – 33.3%
  • On-premises data centers – 0%
  • Unsure – 0%

Interestingly, while two-thirds of respondents expect the majority of health care data to be stored in a hybrid-private cloud in the next three years, one-third expect the public cloud to hold the majority of data.

This finding differs slightly from the Top of Mind 2019 survey of health system IT executives, which reported that only 10% expect the public cloud to hold the majority of health care data. Below are the results from the Top of Mind 2019 report:

“Where do you expect the majority of your organization’s health care data to be stored in the next three years?”

  • Hybrid-private cloud – 60%
  • On-premises data centers – 20%
  • Public cloud – 10%
  • Unsure – 10%
