ParlaiQ wins first place in the HAS18 Digital Innovation Showcase

ParlaiQ, a UPMC Enterprises product, recently received top honors at Health Catalyst’s Healthcare Analytics Summit (HAS18).

The executive rounding and patient satisfaction tool won the Digital Innovation Showcase in the category “Most Needed for Our Environment” for its digital, data-collection solution.

The HAS18 conference was a three-day summit in mid-September in Salt Lake City, Utah, which hosted more than 1,400 attendees representing 300 health care organizations. The Digital Innovation Showcase is an organized exhibition for companies to display and demonstrate their latest products and services. This provides an opportunity for health care industry partners to meet with customers and discuss recent market trends and opportunities.

Attendees, two-thirds representing health care providers and 50 percent being executives and senior leaders, were able to visit with different vendors throughout the showcase and then vote on the most impactful solutions based on specific categories, including “Most Needed for Our Environment.” The conference showcased data as an innovative, enabling strategy to thrive in the new world of digital health care. The summit was also an opportunity for leaders to learn how data will be driving significant advances beyond improved clinical quality, including improvements in financial performance, risk management, labor productivity, workflow efficiency, supply chain effectiveness, frictionless transitions of care, and scalable precision medicine.

Members of the ParlaiQ team that attended the conference showcased their patient rounding tool, demonstrating the features and benefits created by the full ParlaiQ development team to show exactly how the technology works by giving interactive, iPad demos.

The demos also showcased how data can be used by showing off a dashboard that was built alongside partner, Health Catalyst, and had one of their representatives in the booth explaining how the dashboard works and why it was built. Attendees could then see how the ParlaiQ application addresses the patient experience by collecting rounding data to improve the patient’s experience in the future. The in-booth simulations allowed the attendees to gain a first-hand understanding of how the tool works.

“ParlaiQ speaks to the human side of medical care. It’s not complicated, it’s quite simple and encourages strong conversations between patients, caregivers, and their families,” said Jody Madala, ParlaiQ Senior Product Manager. “Encouraging better human treatment, care, and communication around technology is the ultimate goal.”

Beyond the showcase, Madala was joined by UPMC’s Amy Triola, Director of Patient Experience at the Wolff Center, to give a talk on the patient experience in the summit’s break-out sessions. The talk titled, “Proactive Patient and Leadership Engagement Delivers an Improved Care Experience,” was delivered to a capacity crowd of attendees and focused on the importance of patient and human engagement and how technology can help close this gap.

“HAS18 was the perfect conference because it started and ended with great conversations, both at our booth and at our break-out session. It was excellent from a ParlaiQ perspective,” said Madala.
