Fun Facts About New Staff

Get to know nine new coworkers and Summer Associates through their answers to a list of fun questions.

Wayne “Orange Jesus” Bloom, Summer Associate, Developer, MyUPMC

Do you have an unusual talent or hobby?
For quite a few years now, I’ve been a bit of a collector of orange things. The vast majority of my clothing is orange, so this brought on an interesting nickname, as well. The orange combined with my long hair and beard look caused me to be dubbed “Orange Jesus” by many of my friends.

Which is better, board games or video games?
I am an avid enthusiast for both, so this is hard. There’s more overhead involved with getting together with people for board games, but I generally have more fun with them than with video games. So I’ll say board games.

How did you get into the industry?
After changing my major three times in my first two years of school, I came close to deciding to drop out. On a whim I decided to take a couple programming courses to try something new, and I found I loved it. The process of complex logic and problem-solving toward the end of practical functionality never gets old. From Theater to Music Therapy to Psychology to Computer Science, that’s how I got into the industry. A bit of a wild ride!

In 2019, I marched in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland with the Slippery Rock University Marching Band. There was an adjudication to determine the best performing band from the 15 or so that marched. We were the first place band, so in a way, I’m an international champion!

Mark “Marko” Wuslich, Product Manager, MyUPMC

Are you a Pittsburgh local or did you grow up elsewhere?
I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, but half of me grew up in Pittsburgh as well. Meaning, my dad is from the Pittsburgh area (Export, PA) and we came to visit grandparents and relatives sometimes 2-3 times a month throughout my childhood. That said, I think I was the only kid running around Western New York with Bradshaw, Joe Greene, or Bettis jerseys on, and have lived in The Burgh for about 17 years now.

Do you have any kids?
I have a beautiful 3-year-old little girl, who most of the time I’d swear is more mature than I am. It’s safe to say she has me wrapped around her finger and I couldn’t be happier or more proud to be her dad.

What’s your favorite quote from a movie or TV series?
“Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that’s what gets you.” – Jeremy Clarkson from the BBC’s Top Gear UK.

Where in the universe would you like to visit someday?
Jay Leno’s garage with a personal tour from Jay himself.
