BRINGING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO THE CLINICAL SETTING
10:45am – 11:45am Monday, March 5
Las Vegas – Wynn Convention Center – Lafite 2

The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare is on the rise yet it can still be difficult to determine what is “hype vs. reality”. This session will take a closer look at AI, how it can be used in clinical practice, what is needed to get started, and comparisons between AI and traditional data processing methods. Discussion will focus on current use of AI to augment the delivery and payment of healthcare.

This session is part of a special program called AMDIS/HIMSS Physician Executive Symposium: Shifting from Computer Care to Patient Care. Extra fees and separate registration is required.

INFORMATION INTEGRATION: LEVERAGING DATA ANALYTICS TO MITIGATE ACTUARIAL CHALLENGES
2:00pm – 3:00pm Monday, March 5
Las Vegas – Venetian Convention Center – Delfino 4002

Big data is top of mind for many organizations—but countless questions remain. From investment cost to data organization to talent, the resources required to effectively leverage big data are vast, but can reap huge rewards. This session will cover the fundamental requirements to stand up your data science practice, as well as how to drive meaningful data consumption for stronger decision making. By turning massive amounts of data into information, and more importantly into new knowledge, health systems can address a myriad of issues—from understanding care delivery models to developing financial models to identify the best areas for business growth. Examples will illustrate what questions data science can answer, plus what infrastructure an organization needs to make those answers valuable.

This session is part of a special program called Business of Healthcare Symposium: Going from Good to Great in a Value-Based World. Extra fees and separate registration is required.

CREATING A CULTURE OF INNOVATION: AN INNOVATION LAB PERSPECTIVE
9:30am – 10:30am Monday, March 5
Las Vegas – Venetian Convention Center – Galileo 901

Join our expert panel as we discuss how to formulate strategies to incorporate innovation within your organization, identify challenges around the development of technologies in-house vs. collaborating with outside organizations, and review incentivizing startups, clinical staff and mitigating risk when utilizing innovative technologies.

This session is part of a special program called Innovation Symposium: Innovation As a Strategic Imperative. Extra fees and separate registration is required.

PATIENTS AS CONSUMERS: HOW LEADING PROVIDERS ARE DIGITALLY TRANSFORMING PATIENT CONSULTS
10:00am – 11:00am Wednesday, March 7
Las Vegas – Venetian Convention Center – Marcello 4405

Having to discern and address patient preferences before, during, or after a consult often adds complexity, but understanding motivations and addressing choices can add clinical, operational, and financial value to care delivery. This session will highlight case studies and explore design considerations of tools, concepts, approaches, and leading innovations empowering clinicians to deliver positive patient and family experiences that are necessary in the new healthcare economy.

RUN, RUN, JUMP: THE RIGHT WAY TO EMBRACE STARTUP INNOVATION
10:00am – 11:00am Thursday, March 8
Las Vegas – Venetian Convention Center – Galileo 901

In their efforts to embrace digital health innovation and to meet new market priorities, many health systems are pursuing startup partnerships and increasingly finding themselves taking on projects that get stuck in the pilot phase and never reach scale. Figuring out how to test and scale innovation is critical in this environment as is shedding pilots that don’t work and learning from those experiences. Join this session to chart the flight path that can speed up your cycle of innovation and take your startup pilot to scale.

CREATING A CULTURE OF INNOVATION: BEST PRACTICES FROM THE BATTLEFIELDS
11:30am – 12:30pm Thursday, March 8
Las Vegas – Venetian Convention Center – Galileo 901

Of all challenges in the pursuit of a better tomorrow, getting the “culture of innovation” right may be the most rewarding of them all. We have all heard the Peter Drucker quote that “culture eats strategy for breakfast”, but how does an organization effectively foster a productive culture of innovation? Although there is not a one size fits all approach to innovation, there are best practices out there, and blueprints that we can use today to build off of. This session harnesses the tremendous discussions online via a HIMSS social media campaign around the theme of the culture of innovation, and distills these down to key tenets and learnings.
